Entering his third season at the helm of the Oakland University Men’s Hockey program, Sean Hogan continues to lead the Grizzlies to success. Over the last three seasons, Hogan has solidified Oakland University as one of the premier American Collegiate Hockey Association clubs in the nation. He led the Grizzlies to two consecutive American Collegiate Hockey Association National Championships in 2006 and 2007. The 2006 National Championship marked three consecutive ACHA Division II National Final appearances. The 2007 National Championship came in Division I of the ACHA, marking the first time in league history a team captured consecutive National Titles in two divisions. After losing six top players to graduation, the Grizzlies will look to remain the #1 team in the nation by mixing in a talented group of newcomers with an already solid veteran core, and will look to defend their third ACHA National Championship.
Prior to coaching Sean played NCAA Varsity Hockey at Iona College in New Rochelle, New York where he garnered Rookie of the Year Honors during the 1996-1997 campaign. Hogan completed his degree at Michigan State University where he played for the MSU Spartans ACHA DII team. Upon graduation Sean continued his hockey career with training camps and tryout agreements with three minor league professional hockey teams, the Macon Whoopee (ECHL), who were an affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers, the Knoxville Speed (UHL), and the Kalamazoo Wings.
Personal: Hogan graduated from Michigan State University in 2001 with a B.A in Public Policy and Public Administration. He ran for the State House of Representatives in the 44th District in 2002 and is currently on the management staff of the ONYX Ice Arena. Hogan is also a former golden gloves boxer and resides in Royal Oak, MI.
J.R Dunn enters his third season as the top OU assistant. Dunn oversees and coaches the defensive corps at OU. He assists in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, travel planning, and coaching.
Prior to OU, Dunn served as an Assistant Coach with the Metro Jets of the Central States Junior B Hockey League. While with the Metro Jets, Dunn’s squad won a Jr. B National Championship in 2001-2002. Dunn’s playing career took him through the junior ranks as a player with the Metro Jets where he served as a captain and was known through out the league as a fierce competitor.
Personal: J.R (28) currently resides in Waterford, MI with his wife Stephanie, son Liam and daughter Mallory. He works as a Detroit Fireman and also served 4 years in the U.S Army where he was stationed overseas and participated in the Army boxing program. J.R's brother Alex played NCAA Division 1 hockey with the Lake Superior State Lakers and is currently playing with the Odessa Jackalopes in the Central Hockey League.
Jeremy Bachusz enters his second season with the Oakland Hockey staff. Jeremy spent his NCAA playing days with the Lake Superior State Lakers of the CCHA, where he served as Captain his Junior and Senior seasons. While at Lake Superior State, he was honored with the Outstanding Freshman award and led the Lakers in scoring his junior and senior campaigns. Prior to his college hockey days Jeremy was a highly touted and much recruited player out of the Compuware Ambassadors Junior A club in the North American Hockey League. Jeremy capped off his hockey career by spending parts of two seasons in the ECHL with the Arkansas Riverblades and Cincinnati Cyclones.
Personal: Jeremy (28) is employed at Merryl Lynch as a Financial Advisor. He currently resides in Royal Oak, MI with his wife Becca, who attends Medical School at Wayne State University. Becca was also a standout basketball player at Lake Superior State University. Jeremy's brother Mike served as Captain of the1993 NCAA Division 1 National Champion Lake Superior State Lakers.
